| Miss Amelia |
The SDA family would like to welcome Amelia Galindo! Amelia was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma (her parents and only sister, Becky, came from Mexico!) but grew up in Miami and later moved to Flower Mound when she was 13 years old. Amelia began dancing at 4 years old and after trying several activities, found dance was her favorite! Amelia's first dance performance was the Mexican Hat Dance at 5 years old and has since been a part of many dance groups--a hip hop group in middle school, the Rosettes Drill Team at Flower Mound High School (while also dancing at Dallas Powerhouse), and a teacher/member of the Hip Hop dance team at UNT called Ruckus. Most recently, Amelia has performed in many Starmaker's competitions and dance shows. As a Rosette, she taught their lyrical and hip hop teams and held small dance camps for kids ages 8-13 years old. With Ruckus, she performed at competitions hosted by Ohio State and Oklahoma State University. One of her recent experiences has been with the Monster's of Hip Hop Convention as a member/dancer meeting and being taught by great choreographers: Dave Scott, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, Marty Kudelka, Teresa Espinosa, Lisette Bustamante, Flomaster, Rhapsody, and Gil Duldualao. Outside of dance, Amelia earned her BBA from UNT, specializing in Entrepreneurship. She currently works for Champion Mortgage and plans to return for her Master's this year. Amelia is a huge animal lover and has two dogs of her own--a Llasa Apso named Simba and a Chihuahua named Darla. She also has two red-eared slider turtles named Mini and Falafel. Amelia enjoys composing songs, writing poetry, playing with her dogs, playing poker, bowling, video games, and cooking (you can find her watching anything on the food network!) She would choose to be outside anywhere the weather is great. She loves to travel and has been to Europe and many places around the U.S. Her favorite foods include sushi, cookies & cream ice cream, vegetarian sandwiches and almost any kind of fish. She likes to go to the Studio Movie Grill and Medieval Times. The most fun Amelia has ever had was going skydiving at Skydive Dallas for her 21st birthday! |
