Miss Heather
Heather Renee Hariri grew up in Austin, Texas, cultivating her creativity through
dance, music, and visual art.  Since graduating from Texas Christian University with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and Modern Dance, she has danced professionally
with New World Ballet, Commedia Ballet Theatre, and Contemporary Ballet
Dallas, and began teaching throughout the DFW metroplex.
While at TCU, Heather studied and trained with Susan Douglas Roberts,
Elizabeth Gillaspy, Ellen Shelton, Li Chou Cheng, Ceyhun Ozsoy, Kerry
Kreiman, Christian von Howard, and such guests as Gus Solomons Jr., Jin-Wen Yu,
and Michelle Gifford.  Along with faculty works, she has also performed in works by
the late Fernando Bujones, and by Caryn Heilman (former member of Paul Taylor
Dance Co.).  She had the honor of performing with TCU Dance Ensemble
internationally in Japan.
Heather’s early training began in Austin where she studied Royal Academy of
Dance ballet technique, jazz and tap at the Austin Conservatory of the Arts, and
joined their Conservatory Dance Theater and En Avante, having the chance to
perform several lead roles.  For the 2000/2001 season, she joined Austin Dance
Ensemble, performing with Ballet Austin’s Anthony Casati.  She also briefly
studied at Slavin Nadal, Ballet Austin and Tapestry Dance Company, and spent a
summer studying contemporary dance at North Carolina School of the Arts, where
she trained with Melissa Hayden, Dianne Markham, and Brenda Daniels.
Heather also has training in trombone, guitar, and piano, has produced graphic
designs for TCU dance concerts and AIDS benefits, and choreographed at
TCU and Austin Conservatory of the Arts.  Her honors include TCU’s Dean’s
Scholarship, National Merit Scholarship, and the TCU’s Dean’s List.  She has a
passion for travel and all things creative, and enjoys teaching at SDA.
